I've always liked small cars, something my father could never understand (although he had owned a couple midgets in his time). When I turned sixteen, I fell in love with a little Honda 600 I saw for sale down in Arkansas on vacation, but my dad would hear nothing of it. Why would I want to drive around in such a small car? While in college, I bought an old Karmann Ghia to tool around in. After graduating, I bought a Miata. While tooling around in these 'small' cars, I was unaware of where the unhealthly proportions my propensity for small cars would lead me.

While at a party in Austin, Texas (a town with its share of eccentrics) I bumped into a beautifully restored Isetta owned by Carl Jensen and have been in love with the Isetta ever since. Possessed even. This is the power of the Isetta. I had never seen such a weird, small, and beautiful thing. The following Monday, I told one of my buddies about the car. Turns out he and his girlfriend were driving around Bastrop Texas about 30 miles east of Austin and saw one on Sunday! The next weekend, a bud and mine went to Bastrop to search it out. Sure enough, there it was: a mint, original condition, bubble window convertible (at the time, I was not aware how rare those particular Isettas were). The owner was not interested in selling it (and had a great collection of odd cars including a classic era batmobile he was building). After coming back from Bastrop, I thought 'These cars don't seem to be that rare, maybe I can find one' and began surfing the Internet looking for information and leads. While surfing, I found information about a microcar show in Dallas that Ray Morey was organizing. When I called Ray for information, I asked if he thought there might be any Isettas for sale there, and he said 'I've got one for sale!' I bought it, and now here I am.

The purpose of the Isetta source page is to document the plethora of Web pages out there on this goofy little car and to document my long and hard restoration. I've divided the links into several different, and hopefully useful, categories because the page was getting too big. Over the past two years I have also had the chance to add my own content including my restoration pages, isetta haiku, compilations of isetta literature and toys, and other stuff. I hope you enjoy the site! Because of the number ol links, you will find that several come and go. I try to update the page every two months and update the links and remove the bad links. Please send me comments, as well as content, to help make this the best site on the Web related to Isettas. Thanks to many of you that have dropped me nice notes about the site.
