what is it?
The Isetta is a microcar manufactured by several companies, including BMW, between 1953 and 1964. Of Italian design, the Isetta has some unique features:
  1. a single door that encompasses the front of the car,
  2. a steering column that pivots with the door for easy entry and exit,
  3. rear wheels spaced only 16 in apart (no differential) compared to 44 in for the front wheels,
  4. a 4-speed transmission directed by a shift lever on the left-hand side of the driver,
  5. the small size and weight of the car (about 4.5 ft wide, 7.5 ft long, and 800 lbs), and
  6. the classic, ‘bubble’ appearance.
